Notice of Discontinuation of Sprite Gen + Future Free Upgrade

Hello Everyone!

It’s been a while since we last caught up! First off, I want to thank everyone who has purchased this product - your support means the world to us!

Now, onto a couple of important announcements! First up:

As of October 1st, 2024, Tiny Tales: Sprite Character Generator will be officially discontinued, making way for a new product. But don’t worry - if you already own Sprite Gen, you’ll keep full access and be able to download it forever, even after it's removed from sale.

Even better, we’ll be offering a free copy of its successor, Tiny Tales: Character Generator EX, to all Sprite Gen owners for an entire year. The free download will be available as soon as Character Generator EX is launched on our official itch.io page.

This brings me to the second big announcement (and the reason the free copy isn’t available just yet): We’re having a huge sale on Humble Bundle right now!

Tiny Tales Treasure Trove - The Ultimate Pixel Art RPG Toolkit

If you’ve been wanting to grab the full Tiny Tales catalog at an even bigger discount than the mega bundle we usually offer over here, now’s the time!

That’s all for now - thank you for your continued support! Happy shopping!

Hey, really great work. I saw the video on Youtube. I'm really hyped it's exactly what I was looking for.

I especially love that there are 3 models. So portrait, battle sprite and overworld sprite.

In the video it looked like the overworld sprites were 4D.  Are there more animations than in the old character generator or just the walk animation?

And what about the battle scene sprites? Do they only have one direction or can you make them look both right and left?

I think you wrote on Youtube that version 1.2 will be released on October 14th and here it says that the generator will be released with version 1.2. What is the current status?

The generator would be very suitable for my current project status and there are actually no real alternatives outside of RPGMaker that offer this style. Especially if you need these 3 models for a character. So I would probably buy all of your sets but would want to wait for the generator to be released. Thats why I ask, if you already know, when you will publish.

Huge apologies for the long time it took us to respond!

For the character animations, mostly walking for the map sprites.

For the battlers, just facing one direction for now because of the way the paperdoll parts are baked into the texture. We can try to think of a way to make flipping possible, but it's definitely not a feature that we can guarantee at this time.

On the release window: The artist got several personal setbacks in these last weeks.

1.2 has a new character preset feature, that is tested, finished and confirmed to work 100%. We'll display a new video as soon as the release is good to go!

I understand. If you own the old editor, you can have access to it. We're hesitant to launch the app as is without the 1.2 release because it could generate unnecessary confusion.

We'll try to keep the communication channels open as much as possible, even though we have been a little quiet this month. Huge apologies for the wait and lack of communication, and thank you for your kindness!

I'm so hyped for this new character generator! I've got the old one and after seeing the video (I saw it was supposed to drop yesterday), I'm hoping that it'll happen very soon. :D

Huge apologies for the wait! We'll send the emails so you guys may test 1.1.

We'll discuss the status of the new launch of the software in a devlog soon as well!

I just tried the link for the Crossgrade in my email and it says it couldn't find the page.

Hi, the same happened to me, there must be a problem with the link

Please, try again now! We apologize for the inconvenience. It might be fixed now. If not, we'll generate another email with a brand new link!

Hi, thank you for fixing it. Unfortunately, I still can't access it! The link redirects me to the download page in the screenshot, but If I click on the claim button or on the asset title it says I don't have the permission.

still waiting for a date, the humble bundle sales long over, don‘t tell me we‘ll need to wait until the itch.io bundle sale ends in 2 months 😅

Hey! Sorry, we're finalizing the 1.2 update and decided that we'll be releasing the program here alongside the 1.2 update. Should be up in the next couple of days. The good news is that it'll come with even more features and graphical parts!

aweasome !! Cant wait to try it.

Is it the next couple of days yet?

lets hope they dont pull the openai „in the coming weeks…“ on us 😂

Nearly been two weeks so I think it will be the "coming month(s)" soon XD

It's autumn. The developers are probably just ill and need 2-3 weeks to get fit again and catch up on the planned things. Maybe we'll be lucky and it will come soon.

so when can we expect the new version if we bought the old one?

I'd like to know this as well.  Their stuff is so high quality, can't wait to play around with it :D

Our apologies for the wait in the responses! We'll be sending an email with the free claim sales soon!

Ah, cool!  I saw that Humble page and was trying to figure out what that product was, since the link leads to a page that itch says the developer had made private.  What are the differences between this new one and the old one?

Hi! We apologize for the long wait in the replying. We've been a little overwhelmed in the past weeks.

Main key differences is that we include battlers and portraits now, as well as better color selections. It makes customization much better and allows for better designed NPCs as well.

For those that don't own this software yet, we don't have a launch window just yet. We'll have to play by ear as we severely underestimated the work it takes to produce a massive quantity of assets.

Thank you so much for the interest, and we apologize for the long time it took to respond!
